The ACS Relocation Readiness Program (RRP) helps ease the relocation process by providing resources and information to minimize stress and anxiety associated with moving. Relocation Readiness aims to make the right connections for services to support a positive transition; before the move during the move and after the move. 

The Family Relocation Checklist

Information about military installations worldwide can be found through the Department of Defense web site, Military HOMEFRONT Plan My Move provides a personalized checklist for organizing PCS move details to make the transition easier.

The Fort Myer Military Community RRP can provide personalized relocation assistance to incoming military and civilian personnel.  The RRP also helps to reduce the stress of moving by offering additional services, such as the Lending Closet, welcome packets, services to Waiting Families of deployed Soldiers and multicultural services designed to assist foreign-born spouses of military personnel.   You can reach the office by calling 1-800-477-9571 or DSN 426-0026 or email

Services provided by the JBM-HH Relocation Readiness Program:

Lending Closet: Assistance is available for Families PCSing to or from the Fort Myer Military Community in the form of basic household items such as: pots and pans, dishes, car seats, high chairs, sleeping mats, etc.  Items can be loaned for a designated period of time while Families wait for the shipment of their household goods.

Welcome Packets: Information about the installation and surrounding areas is provided to help familiarize personnel with their new assignment.  Please ask your sponsor to forward a welcome packet or e-mail us for an electronic packet.

START RIGHT: is a centralized in-processing program. Start Right is held Bldg 230 on Forrest Circle. Soldiers should bring the following documents to Start Right: 5 Copies of Orders, 3 Copies of Advance Travel Pay, Copy of Lease or Mortgage, Termination of Government Quarters, DA Form 31 (Leave Form), Receipts for all travel expenses, DA Form 4187 (Separate Rations), Marriage Certification/Divorce Decree. Outbound Personnel Resource Page is designed to help make your move departing from the FMMC a positive experience.

Multicultural family services: Army Community Service offers programs and resources that are exclusively designed for foreign-born spouses of military service members, based on specific needs. Programs may include:

1)  English as a Second Language (ESL) Classes are offered throughout the local community.   Contact the ACS office for current class schedules.  

2)  A Foreign-Born Spouses Group, an interactive group focusing on everyday life in the United States and a chance to share your culture with others.    

3)  Citizenship and Naturalization assistance  Citizenship information classes are offered to Soldiers and Family members who are preparing to become U.S. Citizens.  For more information about Citizenship, contact ACS or go to
